Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis seeks an Adjunct Faculty - Medical Assisting to teach part-time courses, create a supportive learning environment, and assess student progress per the syllabus. Hired each semester as needed, adjuncts use current course objectives, employ technology, and keep accurate records to promote student success.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Utilize available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Supplement and adapt lesson plans, assignments, tests and materials; maintain accurate student records.
  • Engage with students regularly to promote learning and positive experiences with Ivy Tech.
  • Demonstrate teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Interact with students and colleagues professionally and in compliance with College policies.
  • Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.

About The Role

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Major Responsibilities
  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines and expectations.
  • Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students and employees in which every individual feels respected and valued.

Education And Experience
  • A qualified faculty member meets the education component of the School of Health Sciences discipline standard by possessing the following:
  • Possesses an earned associate degree from a regionally accredited institution, and
  • Has a minimum of one year of related work experience, and
  • Possesses one of the following:
    • Current professional certification in the field, or
    • Completed academic preparation appropriate to the course being taught
