Each course at Herzing University is designed to introduce new concepts, build upon prior knowledge, provide supportive resources, and assess student development of competencies and learning objectives. The faculty member assists students in navigating the learning process within a course.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in a healthcare related field
• At least one of the following certifications:
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through AHIMA
  • Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P) through AHIMA
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through AAPC
• Current industry experience in a healthcare setting is essential.
• Minimum of two years of healthcare operations knowledge related to insurance billing and medical coding.
• College-level teaching experience in insurance, billing, and medical coding.

Preferred experience includes at least two years of remote teaching using LMS platforms and five years of industry experience in coding.

Physical Requirements

• Remain stationary 50% of the time.
• Move readily around campus, classrooms, clinical settings.
• Communicate verbally with students and staff.
• Observe, assess visually or otherwise.
• Operate program-specific equipment.
• Travel for meetings, conferences, or clinical observations.
• For clinical programs, additional requirements include standing/walking for extended periods, reaching, manipulating objects, seeing and hearing within normal ranges, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
