Job description

Each course at Herzing University is designed to introduce new concepts, build upon prior knowledge, provide resources, support student mastery, and assess development of competencies and learning objectives. Faculty members assist students in navigating this learning process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master's degree in a healthcare-related field
  • At least one of the following certifications:
    • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through AHIMA
    • Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P) through AHIMA
    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through AAPC
  • Current industry experience in healthcare settings, with at least two years of knowledge in healthcare operations related to insurance billing and medical coding.
  • College-level teaching experience in insurance, billing, and medical coding.

Preferred experience includes:

  • At least two years of remote online teaching experience using LMS platforms like Blackboard or Canvas.
  • At least five years of industry experience in coding.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
  • Ability to move quickly around campus or clinical settings.
  • Frequent verbal communication with students and staff.
  • Ability to observe and assess visually or otherwise.
  • Operate program-specific equipment and technology.
  • Travel for off-site meetings or clinical observations.
  • For programs with clinical components, faculty must be able to:
    • Stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Reach with hands or arms.
    • Manipulate objects with fingers.
    • See and hear within normal parameters.
    • Lift up to 25 pounds.
