Job description

Herzing University designs each course to introduce new concepts, build on prior knowledge, provide resources, and assess student development and achievement of learning objectives. Faculty are responsible for guiding students through their learning process.

Qualifications:

• A Master's degree in a healthcare-related field
• At least one of the following certifications:
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - AHIMA
  • Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P) - AHIMA
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) - AAPC
• Current industry experience in healthcare settings is required.
• Minimum two years of healthcare operations knowledge related to insurance billing and medical coding.
• College-level teaching experience in insurance, billing, and medical coding.

Preferred experience includes:

• At least two years teaching remotely using LMS platforms like Blackboard or Canvas.
• At least five years of industry experience in coding.

Physical Requirements:

• Remain stationary 50% of the time.
• Move quickly around campus or clinical settings as needed.
• Communicate verbally with students and staff.

• Travel for meetings, conferences, or clinical observations.
• For programs with clinical components, faculty must be able to stand/walk for extended periods, reach, manipulate objects, see and hear within normal limits, and lift up to 25 pounds.
