Harper College is looking for an Adjunct Faculty member for HVAC courses. This part-time role involves delivering course content, developing syllabi, and fostering an engaging learning environment. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in installing and servicing HVAC systems and hold relevant certifications.
The position supports various teaching modalities (daytime, evening, and online). Academic qualifications include an associate degree in HVAC or Journeyman status. Commitment to student success and institutional policies is essential.
A minimum of three (3) years’ full-time work experience (6,000 hrs.) in the field installing and/or servicing HVAC electrical systems.
A minimum of five (5) years’ full-time work experience (10,000 hrs.) in the field installing and/or servicing HVAC equipment.
An associate in applied science in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or related field or Journeyman status.
Proof of Certification in Safe Refrigerant Handling in accordance with Section 608 of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is required.
Adjunct faculty may be assigned a maximum workload of 24 contact hours or equivalent per academic year (i.e., fall and spring semesters). Classes within the program are offered in daytime, evening, and/or online modalities based on student demand.
Deliver course content that aligns with the college’s curriculum standards and student learning outcomes.
Develop course syllabi, assignments, and assessments that reflect current industry practices and ensure course outcomes are met.
Foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment that accommodates diverse learning styles and promotes student success.
Use technology and other resources to enhance course delivery and student engagement, including online, hybrid, or face-to-face modalities.
Maintain accurate records of student’s progress and grades.
Must adhere to mid-term verification and final grade posting deadlines.
Adhere to institutional policies and procedures, including those related to academic integrity and accessibility.
