Qualifications

  • EPA 608, NAITA, HVAC Excellence, ASHRAE Certified HVAC Designer, OSHA, R-410A, and manufacturer certifications.
  • At least three years teaching HVAC courses, preferably in a community college.

Adjunct Faculty (HVAC)

Job Description:

This adjunct faculty position requires flexibility to teach a range of HVAC/R courses. Courses can be offered both on-site and off-site from 4:00pm to 9:00pm, with the possibility of weekend courses that run from 8:00am to 4:00pm. The position requires a wide range of professional responsibilities and activities related to supporting student success such as managing a classroom, holding students accountable, and encouraging them with structured opportunities to develop their own proficiency. Successful candidates will be expected to develop fluency with online academic and administrative tools such as CANVAS, BANNER and other systems employed at the college.

THIS POOL IS VALID THROUGH JUNE 30, 2027. APPLICANTS WISHING TO REMAIN IN THE POOL MUST REAPPLY AND UPDATE THEIR INFORMATION THEREAFTER.

Adjunct Faculty are part-time instructors hired on an as-needed basis. Positions may consist of day, night, or weekend positions and maybe in Brockton, Canton, Middleborough, or any other instructional site.

  • Comfort with technology, both learning and diagnostic a must and willingness to teach with online and hybrid model courses.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelors required but will consider candidate with associate's degree plus significant experience in HVAC - heat pump and aquaponic technology.
  • Industry certifications in: EPA Section 608 Certification, North American Technician Excellence, HVAC Excellence, ASHRAE's Certified HVAC Designer, OSHA Certificate, R-410A Certification, and Manufacturer-Specific Certifications
  • At least three years full or part-time teaching or training experience teaching a variety of HVAC courses, preferably in a community college setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 years of work-related experience in HVAC/R, heat pumps, aquaponics, controlled environment systems.
  • Experience in curriculum and course development as well as maintaining curriculum accuracy by keeping up-to-date on the industry.
  • Fluency in using a variety of effective pedagogical strategies to promote student success.
  • An interest and experience in working to develop and manage partnerships with area school districts and employers.
  • A willingness to be involved in activities with the student body and interest in providing opportunities for students to extend learning outside of the classroom.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.

  • Supervisor: Dean of STEM
  • Semester: Academic Year Fall 2026 and Spring 2027
  • Hours Variable: Classes typically meet 3 - 5 hours per week.
  • Salary: $1,512 per credit (step 1), with additional compensation for courses with a laboratory component, consistent with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement. *If hired for the position mid-semester, the salary will be pro-rated based on the number of weeks left in the semester.
  • Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
