Job Description

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences offerscollege-level courses in the following formats: face-to-face, liveonline via Zoom, and online via Canvas (PSC’s learning managementsystem). Adjunct instructors instruct students, develop curricula,assess student learning, and maintain College and departmentstandards and deadlines. This position reports to Mr. ScottSchackmann, Department Head, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an institution thatholds accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Educationand approved by the College with a master’s degree in one of thefields above or a closely related field with at least 18 graduatecredit hours in the specific discipline. A successful criminalbackground check is required.

Discipline Specific Qualifications
  • Anthropology - a minimum of 9 graduate semester hours ingeneral anthropology
  • Early Childhood Education - an emphasis in Early ChildhoodEducation graduate coursework
  • Exceptional Student - a minimum of 6 graduate semester hours inexceptional student education
  • American History - a minimum of 9 graduate semester hours inAmerican History
  • American Government - Coursework must be the same as requiredin a graduate political science program
  • Psychology, Human Growth and Development - Coursework must bethe same as coursework required in a graduate general psychologyprogram
  • Child Development - a minimum of 6 graduate semester hours ingeneral or developmental psychology and a minimum of 1 year ofexperience in an early childhood facility

Salary Range

Adjunct Faculty shall be paid on an hourlybasis according to degree level as follows:

  • Master’s Degree: $35.00
  • Doctorate: $38.00

NOTE: This is an open applicant pool. Positions are filled by thedepartment on an as-needed basis.
