Skills

Experience Requirements:

• Current medical coding experience (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS).
• Previous teaching/training/tutoring experience.
• Familiarity with learning management systems such as Blackboard.
• Experience using 3M encoder and grouper software.

Required Documents:

• Official transcripts upon hire.
• Industry certifications (AHIMA and/or AAPC ID card with current certification and valid-through dates).
• Criminal background check required.
• Employment sponsorship is not available.

Schedule Information: Classes are online; occasional meetings on campus in Palatine, IL.

• Commit to student engagement, success, and instructional excellence.
• Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods and educational resources.
• Maintain relevant expertise and certifications for teaching responsibilities.
• Grade and provide detailed feedback on all assignments in a timely manner.
• Respond to student emails and requests within 24 hours.
• Use a positive and professional tone in all communications with students, staff, and faculty.
• Collaborate with HIT Program Coordinator and HIT faculty on program reporting and initiatives.
