Position Summary:
The Brennan School of Business at Dominican University invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Faculty position to teach the following courses from August 25, 2025, to December 12, 2025. The Adjunct Faculty member will report to the Department Chair of Accounting, Finance, and Entrepreneurship.
All online asynchronous courses require in-person office hours at Dominican University, River Forest, IL Campus.
Undergraduate Courses
FIN 320: International Finance - Schedule: Online asynchronous
Course Description
The structure and operation of foreign exchange markets: spot, forward, futures, and options; factors determining spot and forward exchange rates. Measurement and management of foreign exchange exposure risk. Financing international transactions. Working capital policies in an international context. Operations of the international money and capital markets. Students are strongly encouraged to complete ECON 101 and FIN 301 before enrolling in this course.
FIN 301: Corporate Finance - Schedule: Online asynchronous
Course Description
This course examines important issues from the perspective of financial managers responsible for making investment and financing decisions. Students learn how to create a framework for understanding and addressing financial problems faced by corporate decision makers and then apply this framework to business situations. Topics in this course include time value of money, risk and return, valuation of debt and equity, capital budgeting, project risk analysis, and capital structure decisions. Students are strongly encouraged to complete ACCT 101 and QUAN 201 before enrolling in this course.
FIN 421: Financial Statement Analysis - Schedule: Online asynchronous
Course Description
This course explores the concepts and tools to understand, prepare, read, and analyze corporate financial statements. Students learn how to forecast financial statements, assess earnings announcements and quarterly reports, and evaluate how financial markets respond to corporate announcements. Students will utilize case studies and spreadsheets throughout this course. Students are strongly encouraged to complete QUAN 201 before enrolling in this course. Prerequisite(s): FIN 301
FIN 321: Data Analytics: Financial Strategies and Applications -
Schedule: In-person, hybrid (Wednesday, 8:00 am – 9:15 am)
Course Description
This course underscores the pivotal role of data analytics in evaluating and guiding financial strategies that can significantly impact organizations. It builds upon topics introduced in Corporate Finance and explores the strategic decisions financial managers face. A broad array of topics will be discussed including discounted cash flow analysis, mergers, acquisitions, firm valuation, the process of going public, corporate control, shareholder activism, and financial forecasting. Students will understand the why, when, and how of employing analytics to make informed decisions. Emphasizing hands-on learning, the course includes case studies, real world applications, and makes use of current data analytics software to help students prepare for analytical careers in business. Students are strongly encouraged to complete QUAN 201 before enrolling in this course. Prerequisite(s): FIN 301
Graduate Course (MBA)
FIN 605: Financial Management - Schedule: In-person (Thursday, 6:30 pm – 9:20 pm)
Course Description
This course explores emerging topics in the financial field. Topics include bond and stock valuation, risk management, capital budgeting, cash flow estimation, capital structure theory, mergers and acquisitions, and initial public offerings. Students will utilize case studies and spreadsheet applications in this course. Prerequisite(s): FIN 506
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a Master’s degree in Finance or a closely related field
- At least two years of professional experience working in finance or a closely related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum three years of professional experience in finance or accounting
- Minimum two years of teaching experience (preferably in higher education)
- Experience using Canvas Learning Management System
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Professional Certifications (CFA, CFP, for example) are preferred
Responsibilities:
Adjunct faculty are responsible for the following:
- Adhere to the university policies, procedures, and university calendar with respect to reporting information to university offices.
- Administer student evaluations and submit the required paperwork related to instruction, including grades and course evaluations, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Grade weekly assignments, respond to student emails and phone calls promptly, and provide feedback in a timely manner.
- Prepare course materials, including writing test questions and delivering assignments appropriate to the subject matter.
- Hold office hours in person and/or via Zoom to support student learning.
- Adhere to the goals and objectives of the course, as guided by the Department Chair.
