Title

Adjunct Faculty, Engineering – Austin Community College

Summary

Prepare and deliver engineering coursework in engaging, innovative, and culturally responsive ways that reflect a commitment to student success and equity.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach courses in Engineering to a multicultural student population based on department‑approved learning outcomes, using a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to community‑college students.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
  • Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner that does not discriminate based on protected categories.
  • Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by department chair, dean, or higher administration.
  • Demonstrate proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and a learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties.
Professional Standards
  • Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
  • Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve retention and success.
  • Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions.
  • Comply with published college policies and meet professional teaching standards for a community college.
  • Use the college’s learning management system appropriately.
Educational Requirements

Master's degree in Engineering; or Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Engineering.

Work Conditions

Work is routinely performed in an office/classroom environment. Tasks include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; lifting up to 10 pounds. Follow safety rules and report unsafe conditions.
