Job summary

Illinois Central College in Peoria is seeking an Adjunct Faculty EMS Instructor to teach EMR, EMT, Paramedic, CPR, First Aid, and life support courses. Part-time position with up to 12 contact hours per semester.

Instructors must follow approved syllabi and maintain office hours to support student success. Applicants must be residents of Illinois and hold EMT/EMS licensure with ITLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor certifications.

  • 2 years’ EMS provider experience.
  • Current Illinois licensure as an EMS provider.
  • ITLS, ACLS, PALS instructor certification.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and coordinate courses including lecture and/or lab-based classes, ensuring materials and safety standards.
  • Follow syllabi for assigned courses and communicate expectations and schedule.
  • Maintain office hours and be available to students.
  • Communicate with students to support student success.
  • Collaborate with Faculty and Staff to improve the student experience.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Job Description:

Summary

These courses include EMR, EMT, Paramedic, CPR, First Aid, Trauma Life Support (ITLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Adjunct Faculty are primarily responsible for instructing assigned courses meeting classroom standards. Adjunct Faculty must follow institutional syllabus. Additionally, Adjunct Faculty will be required to maintain office hours to best ensure student success. Adjunct Faculty teach on a part time basis up to 12 contact hours per semester.

Applicants must be a resident of Illinois at the time of hire.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

EMT/EMS classes:

  • 2 years’ experience as an EMS provider.
  • Current Illinois licensure as an EMS provider.
  • ITLS, ACLS, PALS instructor certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher in related field.
  • Current IDPH Lead Instructor license.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience teaching or training.
