Job summary

WSU Tech is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program. The instructor will provide engaging, hands‑on EMS instruction, helping students apply essential emergency care knowledge in the field and supporting student success.

The role requires current Kansas EMS credentials (EMT or Paramedic) with CPR on file, plus teaching flexibility across online, hybrid, or in-person formats. This is a part-time, on-campus position at South Campus in Wichita.

Qualifications

• Current Kansas EMT license or Kansas Paramedic license required.
• 3 years of industry work experience preferred.
• Maintains EMS certifications as appropriate.
• Current CPR certification.
• Annual TB test and other immunizations as required by sites.
• Teaching experience in adult education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on EMS instruction and support student learning.
• Submit scholastic records by due dates.
• Evaluate students' progress toward course outcomes.
• Supervise students in classroom and lab activities for safety and learning.
• Ensure program meets WSU Tech course standards and current field practices.
• Maintain a positive learning environment across instructional modalities (online, hybrid, face-to-face).
• Collaborate with Success Coaches and Disability services to support student success.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director and/or Dean of Health Sciences.

Overview / Job Summary:

The Adjunct Faculty, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), is responsible for providing instruction and supporting student learning within the Emergency Medical Services program. This position delivers engaging, hands‑on instruction that prepares students to apply essential emergency care knowledge and skills in the field. The adjunct faculty member works closely with students and program faculty to create a positive learning environment and support student success.

Your day-to-dayresponsibilitieswill vary, but are not limited to:

• Submits all scholastic records by the established due date.
• Evaluates students to measure their progress toward the achievement of course outcomes/competencies.
• Manages and supervises students in all assigned classroom and laboratory activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
• Maintains industry credentials as appropriate to the teaching area.
• Ensures that each program/class meets the WSU Tech Course Standard, includes all appropriate curricular components, utilizes effective teaching methods/practices (pedagogy) and reflects current field practices.
• Maintains an effective learning environment regardless of instructional modality (online, hybrid, or face to face). Demonstrates lab skills in a manner consistent with lesson objectives.
• Engages with the appropriate staff members (Success Coaches, Disability services etc.) to assist with student success.
• Performs other duties as necessary at the discretion of the Program Director and/or Dean of Health Sciences.

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed:

• Current Kansas Emergency Medical Technician License or Kansas Paramedic Licenserequired.
• 3 year’s work experience in industry,preferred.
• Willmaintain currentEMS certification.
• CurrentCPR certification.
• Obtainsat own expenseyearly TB test and other immunizations or physical examinations as required by clinical sites.
• Knowledgeable of the laws, regulations, and administrative processes affecting local, regional, and state pre-hospital emergency medical services systems.
• Thorough knowledge of the proper safety and handling of materials used in the field.
• Previous teaching or training experience in adult education preferred.
• Must be available for required course assignments.
• Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
