Lewis University seeks adjunct faculty to teach in Reading/Literacy Education, Emergent Bilingual Education, or Educational Technology. Courses may be delivered in person or online, with availability for office hours and meetings with department leadership as required.
Qualifications include prior P-12 and adult teaching experience, credentials in the relevant area, and a terminal degree preferred (master's considered with extensive experience).
Adjunct Faculty needed in one or more of the following education specialties: Reading Specialist, Bilingual/ESL/ENL Education, Instructional Technology.
Previous teaching experience with P-12 and adult learners in the subject matter applied for. Credential/coursework/degree in the area of subject matter applied for (Reading/Literacy, English as a New Language/Bilingual Education, or Educational Technology). Terminal degree preferred, master’s degree considered with extensive experience. Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL) with appropriate endorsements preferred. Experience in P-12 educational settings and with instructional technologies preferred. Experienced in using technologies such as Learning Management Systems (Blackboard) and online/high flex teaching, as well as data management.
Current and active knowledge in appropriate content areas; working knowledge of the requirements for endorsement and credentialing in the area applied for; demonstrated experience with and commitment to working with culturally and linguistically diverse student populations; able to support/mentor pre-service and in-service teachers and other education professionals. Experience appropriate to the position applied for: ESL / ENL /Bilingual — experience working with emergent bilinguals and TESOL standards, with proficiency in a language in addition to English preferred. Reading/Literacy — reading specialist experience and familiarity with ILA standards. Technology — experience with technology education and familiarity with ISTE standards.
