Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana seeks qualified faculty to deliver EDUC classes in alignment with program standards. You will develop syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments, while leveraging technology to enhance learning and student success.

Applicants should hold a master’s degree in Education or related field and possess or be eligible for relevant Indiana teaching licenses or endorsements. Commitment to student advising and safety procedures is essential.

Qualifications

  • Meets master’s or higher in Education or related field.
  • Current or expired state teaching license/certification or 3 years of K-12 teaching experience.
  • Credentials in literacy (e.g., Keys to Literacy, Praxis, or Indiana Endorsement) may be required or preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned classes following College policy and course objectives.
  • Use technology to enhance instructional methods and materials.
  • Develop and maintain outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and resources.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and program requirements.
  • Foster engaging, evidence-based teaching that supports student learning.
  • Monitor student performance and provide interventions and referrals as needed.
  • Interact with students and staff professionally, adhering to college policies.
  • Know and implement emergency and safety procedures in all learning environments.

Job description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
Education Program Standard

A qualified faculty member in education meets both of the following criteria:

  • Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or a related field appropriate to the program, and
  • Has one of the following: Current or expired professional state teaching license/certification or Three years of elementary or secondary teaching experience.
EDUC 224 Course Standard

A qualified faculty member teaching EDUC 224 meets the course standard through one of four routes:

  • Meets the Education program standard, or
  • Possesses an earned Master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Science Education, or
  • Possesses an earned Master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Education with 18 graduate or undergraduate hours in science, or
  • Possesses an earned Master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any natural or physical science, with one of the following: Professional certification in education, or Minimum of three years of K-12 teaching experience
EDUC 235 & 245 Course Standard

A qualified faculty member teaching EDUC 235 and EDUC 245 meets the Education program standard and meets the course standard by possessing one of the following credentials (or is in progress and completed within 12 months of hire or date of credentialing change):

  • MSJ Science of Reading Training Microcredential for Ivy Tech faculty
  • Complete Cox Campus Structured Literacy Series Modules and complete the Cox Campus final Structured Literacy Exam Certificate
  • Successful KPEERI Exam Completion
  • Successful completion of Keys to Literacy (80 hours)
  • Successful completion of Praxis #5205
  • Indiana Literacy Endorsement (added to teaching license)
  • Upon Curriculum Committee review, equivalent or higher credential in Science of Reading, preferably from an IDA accredited institution, i.e Mt. St. Joseph or Marian University certificate, masters, doctorate, etc.

Additional experience in special education is preferred.
