Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking adjunct faculty to deliver courses on a semester-by-semester basis at our Indiana campuses. You will create engaging learning environments, use technology to enhance teaching, and maintain accurate records and assessments in line with college policies.

The role requires a master's degree or higher in education or a related field, and a state teaching license or equivalent experience, with a focus on effective classroom instruction and student success.

Qualifications

  • Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or a related field.
  • Has one of the following: current or expired professional state teaching license/certification or three years of K-12 teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades and other requirements.
  • Engages with students to impact learning and uses technology to enhance instruction.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.Education Program StandardA qualified faculty member in education meets both of the following criteria:Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or a related field appropriate to the program, andHas one of the following:Current or expired professional state teaching license/certification orThree years of elementary or secondary teaching experience.EDUC 224 Course StandardA qualified faculty member teaching EDUC 224 meets the course standard through one of four routes:Meets the Education program standard, orPossesses an earned Master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Science Education, orPossesses an earned Master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Education with 18 graduate or undergraduate hours in science, orPossesses an earned Master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any natural or physical science, with one of the following:Professional certification in education, orMinimum of three years of K-12 teaching experienceEDUC 235 & 245 Course StandardA qualified faculty member teaching EDUC 235 and EDUC 245 meets the Education program standard and meets the course standard by possessing one of the following credentials (or is in progress and completed within 12 months of hire or date of credentialing change):MSJ Science of Reading Training Microcredential for Ivy Tech faculty ORComplete Cox Campus Structured Literacy Series Modules and complete the Cox Campus final Structured Literacy Exam Certificate ORSuccessful KPEERI Exam Completion ORSuccessful completion of Keys to Literacy (80 hours) ORSuccessful completion of Praxis #5205 ORIndiana Literacy Endorsement (added to teaching license) ORUpon Curriculum Committee review, equivalent or higher credential in Science of Reading, preferably from an IDA accredited institution, i.e Mt.
