Responsibilities

  • Deliver online classes according to course objectives and college policy.
  • Create and maintain an effective online learning environment using available technology.
  • Supplement and adapt lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate student records and grades in the learning management system.
  • Engage with students regularly to support learning and build a positive experience.
  • Demonstrate teaching strategies that engage online students and promote learning.

Job description

Online Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Online Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating an online learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of the provided single version primary course. Courses are taught completely online in primarily 8-week (rarely 16-week) formatIn compliance with the College’s Out of State Workers Policy, only candidates who will reside in and work from the states of Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio will be considered for this position.Major Responsibilities:Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives. IvyOnline’s minimum expectations for Online Adjunct Faculty are found in the Academic Support and Operations Manual, Policy 7.5.2. Online Adjunct Faculty are also encouraged to review and implement best practices from the online teaching best practices list.Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging online students with their learning.Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines, and expectations.Maintain a safe, quality online educational environment.We are looking for a candidate who is committed to an environment where team members feel valued, respected and supported. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 post-secondary semester /27 quarter credit hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in business administration, public administration, management, marketing, or a business-administration-related field as appropriate to the program; or3. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:In-field national, regional, or state professional certification (does not include teaching license or certificate) Three years of in-field professional employment in the industry (teaching in the area is not considered in-field professional employment).Documentation of research and publication in the fieldDocumented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 15 semester/22 quarter credit hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military training.4. Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in business administration, public administration, management, marketing, or a business- administration-related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in two or more of the following :Professional certification (national, regional or state) in business related field (does not to include a teaching license or certificate)Three years of in-field professional employment in business related field (teaching in the area is not considered in-field professional employment)Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of awardDocumentation of research and publication in the fieldDocumented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military training.Other Requirements:Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.Ivy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
