Job summary

East Texas A&M University is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member in Political Science to teach on a course-by-course basis in Commerce, Texas. Instruction may be on-campus or off-campus, with preference for face-to-face delivery.

Teach up to seven semester credit hours (two courses), develop syllabi, plan lectures and assignments, and assess student performance while mentoring learners. Requirements: Master’s with 18 graduate hours or a terminal degree, and at least three years of teaching

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the field or a terminal degree is required to teach undergraduate or graduate courses.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of teaching experience.
• Knowledge / Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
• Licensing/Certifications: TEA teacher’s certification recommended.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to travel.
• Other Requirements: Flexible schedule.

SUMMARY

Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course by course basis throughout an academic year.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two (2) courses) in Political Science. Instruction may be delivered on-campus or off-campus, during the day, as dictated by student demand and departmental needs. Preference will be given to applicants available to teach face-to-face.
• Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
• Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
• Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
• Assist/mentor students as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the field is required to teach undergraduate courses OR a terminal degree in the field of study or closely related is required to teach graduate courses.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of teaching experience.
• Knowledge / Skills: Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
• Licensing/Professional Certifications: Recommended TEA teacher’s certification.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to travel.
• Other Requirements: Flexible schedule.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE

• Candidates who hold current relevant professional credentials.
• College or University teaching experience.
• Evidence of teaching excellence.
• Prior relevant industry experience.
