Job summary

Harper College invites qualified applicants to join our Career and Technical Programs as adjunct faculty in Culinary Arts. The role teaches FSM110 Advanced Quantity Culinary Arts and FSM162 Classical Cuisine, with a workload up to 24 contact hours per year, delivered in daytime, evening, or online formats.

Ideal candidates have one year of hospitality or FACS experience, two years of teaching college courses in culinary arts, and a bachelor’s in culinary arts or related field.

Qualifications

  • One year of hospitality or FACS experience.
  • Two years of teaching college courses in culinary arts or related areas; plus two+ years non-teaching hospitality/FACS experience.
  • Bachelor’s in culinary arts, hospitality management, FACS, or related field and equivalent of one year’s full-time non-teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Adjunct workload up to 24 contact hours per academic year; daytime, evening, and/or online delivery based on demand.
  • Deliver course content aligned with curriculum standards and student learning outcomes.
  • Develop syllabi, assignments, and assessments reflecting current industry practices; ensure course outcomes are met.
  • Foster an inclusive, engaging learning environment supporting diverse learning styles and student success.
  • Use technology and other resources to enhance delivery, including online, hybrid, or face-to-face modalities.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and grades; adhere to mid-term verification and final grade posting deadlines.
  • Adhere to institutional policies including academic integrity and accessibility.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Career and Technical Programs provide programs of study thatinvolve a multiyear sequence of courses that integrate coreacademic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge toprovide students with a pathway to postsecondary education andcareers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Adjunct faculty may be assigned a maximum workload of 24 contacthours or equivalent per academic year (i.e., fall and springsemesters). Classes within the program are offered in daytime,evening, and/or online modalities based on student demand.
  • Deliver course content that aligns with the college’s curriculumstandards and student learning outcomes.
  • Develop course syllabi, assignments, and assessments that reflectcurrent industry practices and ensure course outcomes aremet.
  • Foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment thataccommodates diverse learning styles and promotes studentsuccess.
  • Use technology and other resources to enhance course delivery andstudent engagement, including online, hybrid, or face-to-facemodalities.
