Responsibilities
  • Plan and teach classes as assigned, following course descriptions, syllabi, and departmental guidelines.
  • Start and finish each class on time, covering all relevant learning outcomes.
  • Maintain academic standards and classroom behavior to foster a learning-conducive environment; communicate with students weekly and respond to emails promptly.
  • Assess and evaluate students using diverse methods, providing timely feedback on each assessment.
  • Use Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and address student questions via campus email in a timely manner.
  • Meet deadlines for administrative requests, such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, reporting academic activity and assessment, and entering final grades.
  • Submit requests through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
Qualifications

A Master’s degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a qualifying field from a regionally accredited institution; alternatively, a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in related fields. Three years of teaching experience preferred. Experience with alternative delivery instructional modes (hybrid, online, interactive, etc.) recommended.

Adjunct faculty pay rates are based upon educational qualifications:

  • Master’s degree: $550 per credit hour
  • Master’s plus 30 semester hours (ABD): $575 per credit hour
  • Doctorate: $600 per credit hour
