Cleveland State Community College is accepting applications for an Adjunct Faculty Pool in the LET field. Instructors provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain a positive learning environment, teaching in multiple formats and locations, including online.

Available postings are reviewed term-by-term with updates on fall, spring and summer terms. Pay rates per credit hour are determined by educational qualifications: Master's level $650, Master's+30 hours $675, Doctorate $700.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma, GED, or higher with two or more of the listed items is required.
• P.O.S.T. Commission recognized instructor status.
• Advanced instructor level training for the subject matter (Firearms, EVOC, Fitness, Defensive Tactics, DUI).
• Documentation of subject matter expert (P.O.S.T. approval) and substantial law enforcement instruction experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach classes as assigned and per course descriptions and syllabi.
• Begin and end all classes as scheduled and cover learning outcomes.
• Maintain academic standards and conduct; communicate with students weekly and respond to emails.
• Evaluate students using multiple methods and report scores promptly.
• Use Cleveland State email for admin tasks and respond to inquiries promptly.

Adjunct Faculty Pool - LET

Instructors provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain a positive learning environment in the class. The major emphasis for instructors is on teaching and evaluating students in the course. Classes are taught in a variety of formats and at several different locations, as well as online. Instructors also communicate with students between classes and are responsible for several administrative duties such as reporting on academic activity and submitting final grades.

Duties And Responsibilities:

• Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi and departmental guidelines.
• Beginning and ending all classes as scheduled and covering all relevant learning outcomes for each course.
• Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure an environment conducive to learning, communicating with students weekly, and answering student emails in a timely manner.
• Evaluating students using a variety of methods and informing each student of scores received on each assessment in a timely manner.
• Using Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and responding to student questions via Cleveland State email in a timely manner.
• Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.
• Submitting requests through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma, G.E.D., or a higher degree with two or more of the following is required:

• Tennessee Peace Officer Standard and Training (P.O.S.T.) Commission recognized instructor
• Depending on the subject matter (Firearms, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Physical Fitness Training, Defensive Tactics, D.U.I) advanced instructor level training
• Documentation of subject matter expert (subject to P.O.S.T. approval)
• Documentation of substantial experience in law enforcement instruction

This posting is not a guarantee of an open position. Applications for adjunct faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed by the department when openings become available. Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring and summer. Postings close yearly on October 31; to maintain your application within the system, you will need to re-apply each year.

Adjunct Faculty Pay Rates Are Based Upon Educational Qualifications.

The Rates Per Credit Hour For Each Educational Level Are As Follows:
