Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College invites applications for Adjunct Faculty to support learning objectives and delivery of course content. The position is an as-needed, part-time adjunct role with responsibility for creating a productive learning environment using syllabi provided by the college.

Qualified candidates have a bachelor's degree or higher in criminology, criminal justice, or related fields and may possess professional certification or two years of related work experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, sociology, or related field.
• Certification or two years of directly related work experience required or preferred.
• Availability to teach between 9:30am–12:30pm and/or 12:30pm–3:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Delivers assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
• Uses technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials; maintains student records and grades.
• Engages with students to promote active learning and positive experience with Ivy Tech.
• Interacts professionally and cooperatively with students and coworkers; follows college policies and guidelines.
• Implements safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and learning environments.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
• Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
• Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with college policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
• Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

Qualified candidates are those who:

Possess an earned bachelor's degree or higher in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, sociology, or other related fields AND have professional certification or two years of directly related work experience.

We are hiring specifically for those who are available to teach courses from 9:30am - 12:30pm and/or 12:30pm - 3:30pm
