Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana seeks an adjunct faculty member to deliver criminology courses and foster a positive learning environment aligned with the college syllabus.

You will develop lesson plans, assess student work, and use technology to support instruction. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and professional certification or two years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, sociology, or related fields.
• Have professional certification or two years of directly related work experience.
• Availability to teach courses and complete background check per hire requirements.

• Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
• Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
• Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with college policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
• Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Major Responsibilities

• Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
• Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
• Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
• Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with college policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
• Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

Qualified Candidates

• Possess an earned bachelor’s degree or higher in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, sociology, or other related fields AND have professional certification or two years of directly related work experience.

We are hiring specifically for those who are available to teach courses from 9:30am – 12:30pm and/or 12:30pm – 3:30pm - Transcripts and/or relevant certifications/licenses required at time of hire - Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background check.
