Job summary

Black Hawk College seeks adjunct/part-time instructors for the new Court Reporting program. Classes will be in the evenings.

The faculty member is expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi, developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students' educational experience, and by developing evaluation methods and maintaining equipment and instructional materials.

Qualifications

• Three years of professional reporter experience required.
• Certification as Registered Professional Reporter or equivalent required.
• Oral English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare syllabi and develop lectures, discussions, and activities to enhance students' educational experience.
• Develop, deliver and evaluate lectures, discussions, and presentations to support learning outcomes.
• Develop, secure, and maintain equipment and instructional materials essential to classroom presentation.

Registered Professional Reporter, Certified Realtime Reporter, Certified Realtime Captioner, Certified Shorthand Reporter, or equivalent.

Three years of professional reporter experience required.

Current membership and participation in an education association or professional organization required.

Oral English proficiency required.

Any instructor hired at Black Hawk College will be required to submit official transcripts at his/her own expense. Transcripts, once submitted, become property of Black Hawk College.

Minimum starting pay for adjunct faculty (as of Fall 2024)

• Less Than a Master's Degree = $693.36 per equated hour
• Master's Degree = $808.92 per equated hour
• Doctorate = $866.70 per equated hour
