Job summary

Cuyahoga Community College is hiring an Adjunct Faculty member for Captioning and Court Reporting in Parma, Ohio. Qualifications

  • Associate's degree and professional industry court reporting or certifications from NCRA, NVRA, or AAERT.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry/business experience in the captioning and court reporting field.
  • Training in court reporting and experience with CAT software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced communication, organizational skills, and sensitivity to diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches courses from beginning theory to advanced real-time writing.
  • Prepares and delivers learning activities to achieve course outcomes.
  • Evaluates and grades students' classwork and assignments.
  • Maintains and submits student attendance records and grades.
  • Available to students for coaching.

Adjunct Faculty, Captioning and Court Reporting

Special Note: This is a part-time (adjunct) faculty position. Candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as‑needed basis throughout the academic year.

Department: Business, Legal Professions & Hospitality

Location: Western Campus

Reports To: Associate Dean

Work Schedule: To be determined based on business unit needs. Classes may be offered during the day, evening and/or weekend. Please indicate your availability when applying for this position.

Job Description

Teaches the full range of courses from beginning theory to advanced real‑time writing.

  • Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomes
  • Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts
  • Evaluates and grades students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations
  • Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades and other required documentation by specified deadlines
  • Be available to students for coaching
  • Periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College, relative to teaching duties and training and development
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree andprofessional industry court reporting or certifications from NCRA, NVRA,or AAERT
  • Minimum of 5 years’industry/business experience in the captioning and court reporting field
  • Training in courtreporting and experience with CAT software, dictionarydevelopment/management skills, and techniques for teaching speed building
  • Demonstrated proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent)
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written andinterpersonal) and organizational skills
  • Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

Compensation

Special Note: This is a Part‑Time Faculty position, with the following set rate of pay: $942.00/Equated Semester Unit (ESU)
