Black Hawk College is seeking a Speech instructor to join the ESL, Languages, Humanities, Philosophy, and Speech Department.

The faculty member is expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; by developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students educational experience; develops, and executes appropriate methods of evaluating students performance; develops, secures, and maintains the equipment and other instructional materials

Qualifications

• Master's degree in speech communication or related field.
• Experience teaching public speaking preferred.
• Oral English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare syllabi and deliver lectures, discussions, and activities to enhance learning.
• Develop and implement methods to evaluate student performance.
• Develop, secure, and maintain equipment and instructional materials for classroom use.

Faculty member is expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; by developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students educational experience; develops, and executes appropriate methods of evaluating students performance; develops, secures, and maintains the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material.

Education And Experience

Master's degree in speech communication, speech studies or related field required, with experience in teaching public speaking preferred. Oral English proficiency required.

Supplemental Information

Pay is commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum starting pay for adjunct faculty (as of Fall 2024)

• Less Than a Master's Degree = $693.36 per equated hour
• Master's Degree = $808.92 per equated hour
• Doctorate = $866.70 per equated hour

Any instructor hired at Black Hawk College will be required to submit official transcripts at his/her own expense. Transcripts, once submitted, become property of Black Hawk College.
