Job summary

Daytona State College is seeking adjunct instructors for part-time, temporary assignments for a single semester. Applications are accepted continuously for future openings based on enrollment and instructional needs.

Required: High School Diploma or GED, valid construction license, and five years in a construction-related field. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of teaching experience. Duties include teaching, grading, and collaborating on course materials.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years experience in a construction related field.
• Two (2) years of teaching experience.
• Knowledge of curriculum development principles.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in accordance with college policies and course outlines.
• Prepare and submit timely grade reports and other performance reports.
• Organize class activities and assignments aligned with learning outcomes.
• Provide input and collaborate with faculty to select course-related materials.
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of subject areas and effective instructional methods.

• Teach courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures, as well as Basic Course Information sheets.
• Prepare and submit timely grade reports and other reports on student performance as scheduled or required.
• Organize class activities and assignments, relating them to the overall learning outcomes of the course.
• Provide input and work with other faculty and staff to review, produce and/ or select course-related materials.

• Extensive knowledge of the subject area(s) in which the individual is responsible for instruction.
• Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and of effective instruction.
• Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of community college students.
• Knowledge and understanding of principles of curriculum development.
• Computer literate and able to navigate in a Windows environment.
