Job summary

Howard Community College is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach College Composition (ENGL 121), information literacy (INFO 100), and related courses. Positions function as a pool to be filled as needs arise, with mentorship, curricular materials, and faculty professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities include preparing course materials, updating Canvas sites, attending meetings, grading, and delivering high-quality instruction in both in-person and online formats.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in composition, creative writing, English, or related fields.
• Master’s degree or higher is required.
• Prior teaching experience preferred.
• Available to teach in face-to-face and online classrooms.
• Ability to use a learning management system (Canvas).

Responsibilities

• For assigned courses, prepare course materials, update the learning management system course site (Canvas), attend required faculty/staff meetings, complete required trainings, meet with students as needed, grade and assess student work, deliver quality instruction, and meet other employment-related requirements from the division and the college.
