Job summary

Pierce College District is seeking adjunct faculty for the College Success program in a part-time pool. The instructor will teach courses as assigned using the department's common curriculum and employ diverse teaching styles and technology to promote student success.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree and be affiliated with a Pierce College community partner (e.g., board member or volunteer). A one-day paid training will introduce instructors to Pierce College and the College Success

Adjunct Faculty Pool (part-time)-College Success (PTF2606)

THIS POSITION IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO COMMUNITY PARTNERS OF PIERCE COLLEGE

Applications will remain on file for 1 year.

Lecture rate is generally $1,221,95 per credit hour.

  • Teach course(s) as assigned.
  • Use common curriculum provided by College Success department.
  • Conduct assigned classes in a manner that promotes student success and incorporates various teaching styles and technology.
  • Be available to students before and after class either in-person or virtually.
  • Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Be a point of connection between Pierce College students and their community organization.
Required:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Affiliation with a community partner of Pierce College (for example: board member, or volunteer.)
Preferred:
  • Ability to speak in front of and facilitate groups of up to 35

Note: Successful applicants must complete a College Success summer training program. The program includes a one-day, in-person, paid training that introduces instructors to Pierce College, the College Success department, mission, staff, curriculum, and pedagogical training.

  • References: A list of 3 recent professional references with name, relationship to candidate, address, email address, and telephone number. Letters of recommendation will NOT be accepted.
  • Detailed curriculum vitae of all educational and professional experience, which includes a list of courses taught (Curriculum Vitae).

Conditions of Employment:
  • Successful applicants must complete a College Success summer training program.
  • Applicants considered for this position will be required to disclose if they are the subject of any substantiated findings or current investigations related to sexual misconduct at their current employment and past employment. Disclosure is required under Washington State Law RCW 28B.112.
