Job summary

Northern Essex Community College (NECC) is seeking an adjunct instructor for General Chemistry I (CHM 121) for Fall 2026 at the Lawrence campus. Courses are taught in-person with a Tuesday/Thursday lecture block and a Tuesday lab.

We are building a pool for future chemistry courses and potential online or hybrid formats after training. Reporting to the Dean of STEM, the ideal candidate will have college teaching experience and experience with technology-enabled instruction.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in a related discipline at the college level.
  • Experience using technology in instruction and assessment.
  • Community College teaching experience (preferred).
  • Experience with online and hybrid teaching and experiential learning (preferred).
  • Experience with Brightspace Learning Management System (preferred).
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses according to Academic Catalog description and established departmental student learning outcomes.
  • Adhere to all NECC policies and MCCC contract requirements, including policies regarding grading, deadlines, evaluation process, syllabus requirements, materials posted on the LMS, and required meetings.

Job Description:

POSITION: Adjunct Faculty - Chemistry: Natural Science Department; Division of STEM; Lawrence Campus (78 Amesbury Street); MCCC/MTA DCE Unit Position.

SUMMARY: For Fall 2026, we are seeking an adjunct instructor for General Chemistry I (CHM 121). This course will be delivered in-person on the Lawrence campus. The lecture portion of the course meets from 8:00am to 9:15am on Tuesday / Thursday, with lab from 9:30am - 12:00pm on Tuesday.

We are also accepting applications for our pool of Adjunct Faculty to teach various Chemistry courses on an as needed basis for the Fall 2026 semester and beyond. Successful applicants would teach courses in General Chemistry (I or II). Seeking instructors for primarily day and evening face-to-face classes, which could include Early College classes. Future possibility of online or hybrid instruction exists and would require successful completion of mandatory training. Adjunct faculty will engage in a critical role in the teaching and learning process, contributing to student success.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Additional Information:

SALARY: $1,512.00/credit - $1,826.00/credit, per credit based on DCE step, per the DCE Contract, non-benefited.
