Job summary

MCPHS is seeking adjunct instructors to pilot a six-week Foundational Technology Skills Module designed to boost digital literacy and readiness for modern academic and clinical settings. The role involves hands-on teaching of file management, MS Office 365, AI concepts, and Blackboard navigation.

Instructors will create practice-oriented sessions, grade assessments, and maintain the course site, with weekly office hours and active learner engagement.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office 365 including OneDrive, Outlook, Excel, Word.
• Working knowledge of AI concepts and tools for classroom guidance.
• Experience teaching or facilitating adult/undergraduate learners.

Responsibilities

• Deliver weekly in-person class sessions for six weeks, covering file management, OneDrive, Outlook, Excel, Word, AI fundamentals, and Blackboard navigation.
• Design and lead guided hands-on exercises for each unit and assess student work.
• Develop, administer, and grade pre-course diagnostics and weekly assessments.
• Post course materials and announcements to the Blackboard site weekly.
• Hold weekly office hours to support student questions and skill development.
• Facilitate active learning and engagement in discussions and lectures.
• Model ethical use of AI tools in academic/work contexts per policy.
• Monitor progress and provide timely feedback to support badge issuance.
• Coordinate with Center for Research and Discovery and School of Healthcare Business and Technology.
• Participate in orientation and debrief to refine the course for future cohorts.

MCPHS seeks adjunct instructors to teach the pilot offering of the Foundational Technology Skills Module, a six-week, non-credit course designed to strengthen students' digital literacy and prepare them for the technology demands of academic coursework and the modern clinical workplace. The course covers file management, core Microsoft Office 365 applications (OneDrive, Outlook, Excel, and Word), foundational artificial intelligence concepts and practical applications, and navigation of the Blackboard learning management system. Students who successfully complete the course earn a digital badge, and the module is incorporated into the CRD Certificate of Research Readiness Program.

This is a hands-on, applied-skills teaching role well suited to a practitioner who is comfortable teaching foundational technology concepts to undergraduate students. The classroom will include a wide range of starting skill levels, requiring the instructor to create a supportive, practice-oriented classroom environment focused on active learning.

• Deliver weekly in-person class sessions across the six-week course, covering file and folder management, OneDrive, Outlook, Excel, Word, AI fundamentals and practical applications, and Blackboard navigation.
• Design and lead guided, hands-on practice exercises for each weekly unit (e.g., organizing files and folders, building a spreadsheet, formatting a professional document, applying an AI tool to a sample task).
• Develop, administer, and grade the pre-course diagnostic assessment, six weekly formative assessments, and the cumulative end-of-course assessment.
• Post course content, materials, and announcements to the course Blackboard site on a weekly basis.
• Hold weekly office hours by appointment to support student questions and skill development.
• Facilitate active learning and student engagement in class discussions and lectures.
• Demonstrate appropriate and ethical use of AI tools in academic and workplace contexts, consistent with the course's AI Use Policy.
• Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to support successful completion and digital badge issuance.
• Communicate promptly with the Center for Research and Discovery and School of Healthcare Business and Technology regarding course logistics or student concerns.
• Participate in a brief pre-term orientation and post-pilot debrief to help refine the course ahead of future cohorts.
• Uses the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students
• Advises and assists students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms
• Provides service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., information technology, business, education, healthcare administration, or related discipline), or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including OneDrive, Outlook, Excel, and Word, at a level sufficient to teach foundational-to-intermediate skills.
• Working knowledge of foundational AI concepts and common AI tools, and the ability to guide students in appropriate and ethical use of AI in academic and workplace settings.
• Prior teaching, training, or facilitation experience, particularly with adult or undergraduate learners in applied or skills-based settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support learners at varying starting skill levels in a patient, encouraging manner.
• Availability for in-person weekly class meetings during the Fall 2026 pilot term (specific days/times to be confirmed).

Preferred:

• Experience with learning management systems, particularly Blackboard.
• Experience developing or teaching digital literacy, technology onboarding, or workplace-readiness curricula.
• Background in higher education, healthcare, or a related professional field consistent with the MCPHS student population.
• Familiarity with badging and competency-based grading models.

Physical Requirements

• This is an in-person adjunct teaching assignment. Typical work requires sitting, standing, and walking as part of classroom instruction.
• Must be able to use technology and interfaces with technology, which includes video, typing, and manipulating a mouse/mouse pad, etc.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
