Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking adjunct faculty for the Applied Artificial Intelligence (AAIT) program in Indiana.   • Uses technology to enhance instructional methods
  • Develops and maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements
  • Engages with students to provide a positive learning experience and active classroom teaching strategies
  • Monitors and documents student performance; provides interventions and referrals as needed
  • Interacts with students and coworkers professionally and adheres to FERPA and college policies
  • Implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms and labs

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as‑needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.
  • Interacts with students and co‑workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

Applied Artificial Intelligence (AAIT) Program Standard
  • Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher in information technology, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution
  • Possesses an earned out‑of‑field master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in one or more of the following:
    • Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the field
    • Two years of in‑field professional employment
    • Documented evidence of information technology teaching excellence, including the date of the award
    • Documentation of research and publication in the field
    • Documented completion of at least 18 semester hours of relevant information technology coursework, or equivalent subject‑matter education demonstrated through CEUs, vendor training, military training, or a combination thereof
  • Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree in information technology, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
    • Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the field
    • Two years of in‑field professional employment
    • Documented evidence of information technology teaching excellence, including the date of the award
    • Documentation of research and publication in the field
    • Documented completion of at least 18 semester hours of relevant information technology coursework, or equivalent subject‑matter education demonstrated through CEUs, vendor training, military training, or a combination thereof
AAIT 110 - Artificial Intelligence Essentials Course Standard
  • Meets the program standard
  • Holds a valid, AI‑specific certification and holds an earned bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in information technology, or a related field, as appropriate to the program
  • Possesses an earned out‑of‑field bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
    • Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the information technology field
    • Four years of professional employment in the information technology field
