Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana invites applications for adjunct faculty in Agriculture/related fields. The position is temporary, part-time, and hired each semester to build a pool of qualified instructors.
Applicants are notified only when there is a need to fill a role and if minimum requirements are met. Responsibilities include teaching scheduled classes, providing syllabus-based instruction, recording attendance and grades, and remaining available to students outside class time.
Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty instructor will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School. This position and the posting will stay open continuously in order to build a pool of qualified candidates for future openings as Adjunct Instructors. Applicants will not be notified unless there is an actual need to fill the position or if the candidate does not meet minimum requirements.
Performs all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provides syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. Maintains student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. Submits requested information within established timelines.
Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions and/or provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.
Meets all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. In the event of an emergency absence, notifies program/department chair. Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction and faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 as applicable to the specific area of instruction. A qualified faculty member in Agriculture meets the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering & Applied Science criteria:
