Adjunct Faculty – Advanced Technologies/HVAC

We are accepting applications for the following position: Adjunct Faculty Pool – Advanced Technologies/HVAC. Instructors provide quality instruction, maintain a positive learning environment, and perform several administrative duties, including reporting academic activity and submitting final grades. Classes are taught in various formats and locations, including online.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions, syllabi and departmental guidelines.
  • Beginning and ending all classes on schedule and covering all relevant learning outcomes for each course.
  • Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure a learning-conducive environment, communicating with students weekly, and answering student emails in a timely manner.
  • Evaluating students using a variety of methods and informing each student of scores received on each assessment in a timely manner.
  • Using Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and responding to student questions via Cleveland State email in a timely manner.
  • Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.
  • Submitting requests through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a qualifying field, or Associate degree in a qualifying field with demonstrated competencies.
  • Documentation of professional certification (national, regional or state).
  • Documentation of professional employment/experience.
  • Documentation of teaching excellence.
  • Documentation of other competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes.
  • Qualifying fields: Climate Control, HVAC.

Availability/Closing Date: Applications for adjunct faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed by the department when openings become available. Future teaching assignments are term‑by‑term (fall, spring, summer). Postings close yearly on October 31; to keep your application active, re‑apply each year.

Application packet: cover letter, transcript, resume/CV, and three references. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for the application process; official transcripts will be required upon hire. Applicants may be subject to a background check.

Adjunct faculty pay rates: based upon educational qualifications. The rates per credit hour are as follows: less than a Bachelor’s degree – $500.
