Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in South Bend is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach accounting courses. Responsibilities include delivering ACCT 101 and ACCT 102, employing current instructional technologies, and preparing syllabi, assignments, and assessments to support student success.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting (or related field) and, ideally, CPA certification, with a track record of teaching excellence or relevant professional experience.

Qualifications

  • Earned bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Two years of in-field professional employment.
  • Documentation of teaching excellence or evidence of applicable research optional.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned Accounting classes (ACCT 101, ACCT 102) in accordance with Ivy Tech policy and course objectives.
  • Utilize current technologies to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students to promote active learning and a positive Ivy Tech experience.
  • Adhere to FERPA, college policies, and safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within professional and regulatory standards.

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis to provide instruction, support student learning, and deliver assigned Accounting courses in accordance with Ivy Tech policies and common course syllabi.Location: Ivy Tech Community College - South BendDepartment: AccountingEmployment Type: Part TimeCompensation: $47.35/Per Contract HourMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectationsEnsures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:A qualified faculty member for ACCT 101 and ACCT 102 meets the course standard through one of two routes:Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree in accounting, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:In-field professional certification (national, regional, or state)Two years of in-field professional employmentDocumented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of awardDocumentation of research and publication in the fieldDocumented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or militaryPossesses and earned Bachelor’s degree in a related business field from a regionally accredited institution with an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
