Ivy Tech Community College is hiring adjunct faculty in criminal justice to teach courses and provide effective instruction within the syllabus framework. The position requires completing duties such as attendance tracking, grading, and using Canvas and PowerPoint.

Availability for student assistance outside scheduled class times is expected. Selected candidates will be paid $47.35 per contact hour for daytime, evening, and weekend classes, depending on course schedule and department needs.

Qualifications

• Earned baccalaureate or higher degree in criminology or related field from regionally accredited institution.
• Professional certification in the field, or two years of directly related work experience, or completed academic preparation appropriate to the program.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes and meet all scheduled times.
• Prepare and provide syllabus for each course.
• Maintain attendance and grading records per college policy.
• Be available to students outside class time to assist.
• Use Canvas, PowerPoint and related tools as required.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.Major Responsibilities:PROGRAM OPERATION:Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.Submit requested information within established timelines.STUDENTS:Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance.Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.INSTRUCTION:Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.Promote same as an integral part of one's work.Pay: $47.35 per contact hourHours: daytime, evening, and weekend classes - depending on course scheduleA qualified faculty member in criminal justice meets both of the following criteria: Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, sociology, or human services, behavioral sciences, or other related fields (e.g., earned Juris Doctor degree), and Possesses one of the following:Professional certification in the field, orTwo years of directly related work experience, orCompleted academic preparation appropriate to the programSelected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.Ivy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
