Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach courses assigned.
• Adhere to class and clinical schedules.
• Develop and maintain syllabi, lesson plans, calendars, etc. for each course taught.
• Communicate concerns to course, clinical, and/or program coordinators.
• Follow policies of the clinical site, the University, the College of Nursing and Health Professions, and the School of Professional Nursing Practice.
• Submit course specific documentation as scheduled.
• Communicate course, clinical, and/or program requirements to students.
• Maintain office hours to support students including advisement and exam review.
• Collaborate with the course coordinator to plan and evaluate each course.
• Attend scheduled meetings related to course, clinical, program, school, college, and university.
• Participate in service opportunities on and off campus.
• Participate in shared governance of the university.

Job Summary

Faculty members facilitate students’ achievement ofcourse objectives and prepare students to master skill sets that enableprogression throughout the nursing program of study. Faculty members workclosely with the course, clinical, and program coordinators to ensure thestandards and quality of the nursing curricula are met and maintained.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain office hours to assure availability to students for supportincluding advisement, exam review, required remediation, and summativeevaluations.
• Collaborate with the course coordinator to plan, implement, and evaluateeach assigned course to maintain quality and effectiveness.
• Attend scheduled meetings as related to course, clinical, program, school,college, and/or university.
• Participate in service opportunities on and off campus that impact theuniversity, professional, and/or local communities.
• Participate in the shared governance of the university, college, and schoolthrough assorted opportunities for engagement on campus.

Minimum Qualifications

Expected to be a competentpractitioner of nursing.

Minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing Degree.

An unencumbered Mississippi RN (Registered Nurses) license.

Meet all clinical requirements of affiliated agencies.

Criminal background check clearance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Current American Heart Association CPR training.
• Evidence of yearly tuberculin skin tests and other required immunizations asper nursing program policy and/or agency requirements.
• Evidence of ten (10) continuing education units annually.
• Be familiar with and comply with clinical agency policies and procedures.
• Complete all required clinical agency training including electronic healthrecords, HIPAA, medication administration, and agency orientation.
• Uphold the mission and values of the USM (University of SouthernMississippi), College of Nursing and Health Professions, and the School ofProfessional Nursing Practice.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Philosophy inNursing (PhD) or closely related area
