Job summary

Community College Preparatory Academy Public Charter Schools is seeking experienced Adjunct EMT Instructors for part-time, on-site teaching in Washington, DC. Compensation ranges from $40 to $60 per hour, commensurate with experience and credentials.

Day and afternoon/evening shifts are available to fit your schedule. You will deliver engaging EMT instruction, covering patient assessment, airway management, CPR/AED use, and emergencies, while guiding students toward national and DC certification

Qualifications

  • Significant, recent professional emergency medical care experience as EMT/AEMT/paramedic.
  • Current EMS provider credentials at EMT level or higher, in good standing, DC required for instructional assignment.
  • Current DC EMS instructor certification or ability to obtain it before teaching begins.
  • Current healthcare-provider CPR/BLS certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate and evaluate EMT skills safely within the curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging EMT instruction combining foundational knowledge, hands-on skills, and realistic scenarios.
  • Teach patient assessment, airway management, CPR/AED, medical/trauma emergencies, and other EMT topics.
  • Guide safe use of equipment, patient movement, and basic life support procedures.
  • Maintain attendance, assessments, and student competency records.
  • Provide timely feedback and additional support to strengthen knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align with curriculum and standards.

Schedule: Day and Afternoon/Evening Shifts Available

CC Prep Academy is seeking experienced and engagingAdjunct EMT Instructors to prepare adult learners for certification and careers as Emergency Medical Technicians.

Day and afternoon/evening teaching opportunities are available, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced EMS professionals who want to share their expertise while continuing to work in the field.

The Opportunity

Deliver engaging EMT instruction that combines foundational knowledge, hands‑on skills practice, and realistic emergency scenarios

Teach patient assessment, airway management, CPR and AED use, medical and trauma emergencies, and other topics within the EMT scope of practice

Guide students in the safe use of emergency medical equipment, patient movement techniques, and basic life support procedures

Reinforce scene safety, infection prevention, personal protective equipment, patient privacy, and ethical responsibilities throughout instruction

Prepare students for applicable National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification requirements and D.C. certification requirements

Evaluate student progress through written assessments, practical demonstrations, simulations, and documented competency checks

Provide timely, constructive feedback and additional support to help students strengthen their knowledge and skills

Connect classroom learning to field experience, professional communication, teamwork, documentation, and employer expectations

Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and student competency records

Maintain a safe, organized, professional, and supportive classroom and skills lab

Collaborate with academic leadership and program medical oversight to keep instruction aligned with the approved curriculum, National EMS Education Standards, and applicable protocols

What You Bring

Significant, recent professional experience providing emergency medical care as an EMT, AEMT, or paramedic

Current EMS provider credentials at the EMT level or higher, in good standing, with the D.C. credentials required for the instructional assignment obtained before teaching begins

Current D.C. EMS instructor certification appropriate to EMT instruction, or the ability to obtain it before teaching begins

Current healthcare‑provider CPR or Basic Life Support certification

Strong working knowledge of patient assessment, basic life support, medical and trauma emergencies, and EMS operations

Ability to demonstrate and evaluate EMT skills safely and accurately within the approved curriculum and scope of practice

Prior teaching, precepting, field training, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred

CPR/BLS instructor credentials or additional relevant EMS educator certifications preferred

Ability to explain complex concepts clearly to adult learners with varying levels of academic and professional experience

Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills

Commitment to reliability, professionalism, patient safety, and student success

A genuine interest in helping adult learners build confidence and pursue meaningful careers in emergency medical services
