Job summary

Columbus State Community College seeks an Adjunct EMS Technology instructor to deliver EMS courses, manage instructional materials, and evaluate student performance. Qualifications

  • Five years of experience as a healthcare provider is required.
  • Two years of experience working with an Ohio or CoAEMSP-accredited EMS training program is required.
  • Ohio-certified Paramedic or EMS Instructor certifications or equivalent qualifications are required.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned EMS courses as scheduled and maintains syllabi.
  • Monitors student progress, records attendance, and submits grades timely.
  • Engages in department meetings and professional development.
  • Ensures a respectful, inclusive classroom environment and uses technology appropriately.

## Adjunct- EMS TechnologyApplyposted on: Posted Yesterdayjob requisition id: JR002353**Job Description:**The Adjunct – EMS Technology position provides quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with major emphasis placed on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The Adjunct role provides instruction and monitors teaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by the Department Chair or other leadership members. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask while engaging large groups of people with complicated material.## **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**## **Instruction & Student Learning*** ## Teaches assigned courses as scheduled.* ## Participates in the identification of students with academic or other needs and responds by utilizing an appropriate resource.* ## Uses technology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives of courses and programs and communicates clearly to students the expectations concerning the use of such technology.* ## Keeps accurate and appropriate records in accordance with departmental policies.* ## Maintains attendance records, determines and submits grades in a timely manner and in accordance with established College policies and procedures, and communicates progress feedback and other relevant information to students throughout the semester.* ## Distributes and maintains accurate syllabi that incorporate departmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements.* ## Conducts classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule.* ## Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives.* ## Engages in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairperson regarding teaching duties and professional development.## **Student Engagement & Advisement*** ## Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.* ## Uses technology to assist in communication with students.* ## Encourages a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.* ## Refers students to appropriate student and academic support services available at the College or in the community.## **Culture of Respec****t*** ## Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.* ## Other duties as required.* ## Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.**Other Duties & Responsibilities*** Attend all department meetings and required trainings.**Minimum Education and Experience Required*** Associate degree.* Five (5) years of experience as a healthcare provider.* Two (2) years of experience working with an Ohio or CoAEMSP-accredited EMS training program.\*\*An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and experience may qualify a candidate\*\***Licenses and Certifications*** State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).* Ohio-certified Paramedic and Ohio-certified Fire & Emergency Medical Services Instructor; OR Ohio Medical Board Licensed Physician and Ohio-certified Physician EMS Instructor.\*CSCC has the right to revise this position description at any time.
