Job summary

Salt Lake Community College invites applications for an adjunct EMS instructor to support course coordination and student learning in emergency medical services programs.

The role involves delivering instruction, adhering to course outlines, maintaining professional standards, and meeting FERPA/ADA guidelines. This is a pooled, semester-by-semester adjunct position with no guaranteed continued employment, requiring transcripts within 30 days of hire when offered.

Qualifications

  • Basic EMT or higher certification required and current Utah BEMS instructor status.
  • Two years non-teaching EMS work experience at EMT/Paramedic level.
  • Knowledge and experience in Emergency Medical Services.
  • Currently certified as an EMS Instructor by the Utah Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.

Responsibilities

  • Support and aid the Course Coordinator in teaching classes to facilitate student learning.
  • Adhere to current course outlines and/or syllabi.
  • Demonstrate depth of understanding in EMS at EMT/AEMT/Paramedic level.
  • Attend required training and department meetings.
  • Demonstrate and support professional commitment to division, School, and College mission and values.
  • Maintain a supportive attitude toward work, students, colleagues, and administration.
  • Support College policies.
  • Other job related duties as required.
  • Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with priority given to policies governing interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization.
  • Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.
  • Maintains professional and collegial behavior.
  • Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure.
  • Completes all required employee trainings.
  • Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines.
  • Provides ADA accommodations as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job description

  7. Support College policies.
  8. Other job related duties as required.

This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available.

  • In accordance with SLCC policy, adjunct positions are offered on a semester-by-semester basis with no guarantee of continued employment.
  • Official transcripts are required for those who are offered employment within in 30 days of hire.

  1. 1. Basic Emergency Medical Technician or higher level of certification, currently certified by the Utah Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
  2. 2. Two (2) years non-teaching full-time (or full-time equivalent) work experience in Emergency Medical Services as a certified Basic Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic level.
  3. 3. Knowledge and experience in Emergency Medical Services.
  4. 4. Currently certified as an EMS Instructor by the Utah Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
