Job summary

Virginia Peninsula Community College seeks an Adjunct HVAC Instructor for its Workforce Development Department. The role involves teaching NCCER Core and HVAC Levels 1 and 2, with an expectation to instruct up to 1500 hours per year as needed, based on enrollment and staffing.

The instructor will prepare and deliver HVAC courses, supervise lab activities, maintain inventories, and collaborate with industry partners to keep training relevant and create job pipelines for graduates.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Significant work experience within the HVAC field.
• Prior experience delivering or developing training.
• Passion for the discipline and a commitment to a student-centered philosophy.
• Excellent interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff and administrators.
• Willingness to serve the needs of traditional and non-traditional students from a variety of backgrounds and age groups.
• Ability to modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
• Plan and organize instruction to maximize documented student learning.

Responsibilities

• Design and delivery of instruction for day, and evening classes.
• Deliver courses that cover knowledge of HVAC Systems, refrigerants
• Responsible for student assessment and grading.
• Maintains adequate on-campus presence.
• Provides timely communication with students, staff, and administrators of the College.
