Job summary

Qualifications

• Two original choreographed dance performances at regional/professional level (provide web link)
• Minimum four years of teaching and professional dance experience in modern dance, Argentine tango, Mexican folkloric dance, and/or social dance
• Teach various dance classes (hip hop, modern, choreography, Argentine tango, Mexican folkloric, or social dance)
• Motivation, energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to teaching excellence
• Willing to choreograph and encourage student participation in the end-of-semester Dance Performance
• Strong communication and teamwork with other instructors
• Computer skills for reports, documents, presentations, and data management
• Ability to teach diverse groups with wide ranges of skills and goals
• Develop curricula and assessment plans, use LO-based objectives, and adjust based on results
• Commitment to teaching profession and community college mission
• Experience engaging diverse backgrounds including LGBTQIA+ communities

Responsibilities

• Teach with significant ability in dance areas: modern, choreography, hip-hop, and jazz.
• Maintain expertise in modern dance, choreography, hip-hop, and jazz.
• Collaborate with dance faculty to create a team environment.
• Be involved in curriculum revisions and new dance course development.
• Be involved in the College Dance Performance at the end of each semester.
• Consult with students during office and lab hours.
• Maintain expertise with technology and digital media.
• Contemporary Modern Dance: teach fundamentals of technique, develop body awareness, alignment, musicality, and expression.
• Dance Composition - Theory and Choreography: teach basic choreography principles, structure, and expression.
• Maintain expertise in specific curriculum areas for Cañada College: Argentine Tango, Mexican Folkloric Dance, Social Dance.
• Lead and supervise dance instruction in alignment with program goals.
