Job summary

San Francisco Community College District is seeking a Dance/PE Instructor (Temporary, Part-Time Pool) to teach Ballet Technique at various levels, with optional Modern/Jazz/Hip Hop/Tap/Yoga, on multiple sites. The role requires enthusiasm for inclusive teaching and ongoing professional contribution to the department.

Qualified candidates will hold a Master’s in Dance or related field (or equivalent) and have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Dance, physical education with a dance emphasis, or theatre with dance emphasis from an accredited institution; OR equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in any of the above plus master's in physical education, life sciences, physiology, theatre arts, kinesiology, humanities, performing arts or music; OR equivalent.
• Candidate must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Teach in-person one or more classes in Ballet Technique (Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced) with potential for Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, and Yoga.
• Teach day, evening, and/or Saturday classes at one or more sites as required.
• Evaluate student performance and progress through in-class observation, practical skills, and tests.
• Create lesson plans reflecting approved department outlines.
• Participate in instructional and departmental activities: curriculum development, materials selection, revisions, and outcomes assessment.
• Choreograph for student performances and supervise dance activities following departmental guidelines.
• Participate in department and college functions, staff meetings, committees, and trainings.
• Contribute to an inclusive, anti-racist teaching culture and address equity gaps.
• Engage in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education

Master's Degree in Dance or related field
