Qualifications

  • At least two years full‑time experience in nursing as a registered nurse.
  • Active Ohio RN license that has never been encumbered.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification per American Heart Association.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to supervise nursing students at a clinical site.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of nursing theories, standards, and practice.

  • Assigns observational experiences within the clinical day appropriate to meet course objectives.
  • Includes completion of the clinical evaluation tools and grading of required student paperwork.
  • Evaluates the student’s experience, achievement and progress in relation to the clinical objectives and outcomes established for the course.
  • Summarizes the data and reports findings to the student and the Course Faculty.
  • Participates in course meetings held by Course Faculty.
  • Provides evaluative data related to the clinical site to Course Faculty and participates in evaluation of courses under the direction of Course Faculty.
  • Orients nursing students to the clinical site and to pertinent policy and procedures.
  • Establishes and communicates clinical objectives within the course framework to students, preceptor, and staff at the clinical site.
  • Plans the student clinical experience consistent with course outcomes, established clinical learning objectives, and student learning needs.
  • Assures student assignments are understood by students and clearly communicated to staff.
  • Supervises student experiences in accordance with OAC Chapter 4723‑5‑20.
  • Acts as an ambassador of the College at all times when interacting with colleagues, staff, students, patients, and families.
  • Participates in evaluative studies related to program improvement.

Adjunct Clinical Faculty members assist Course Faculty in implementing the clinical component of a nursing program. In accordance with established nursing standards, the Adjunct Clinical Faculty supervises student practice by providing guidance, direction, and support appropriate to the clinical situation. This role also evaluates student performance in the clinical setting and provides feedback on the student’s performance to Course Faculty.

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is required
  • At least two years full‑time experience in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse or part‑time equivalent
  • Active Ohio RN license that has never been encumbered
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (BCLS) compliant with the American Heart Association
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to supervise nursing students and provide direction at a clinical site
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve or recommend solutions to moderately complex problems
  • Ability to coordinate student assignments
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Diplomatic interaction skills with a variety of individuals at various levels
  • Knowledge of nursing theories, standards, and practice
  • Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act and differentiation between LPN and RN scope of practice
  • General knowledge of teaching‑learning strategies used in nursing education and outcome assessment
General Credentialing Requirements
  • Provide copies of official transcripts for all earned degrees
  • Provide a current American Heart Association BLS or ACLS CPR card
  • Completion of a physical form within the last 12 months
  • Immunization documentation for:
    • Hepatitis B
    • MMR
    • TDAP/Tetanus
    • TB (2 step)
    • Varicella
    • Flu (October 1 – April 1 hires)
