Critical Playground LLC invites applications for an Adjunct CAD Instructor on a 0.4 FTE basis at the Escanaba campus. The position supports in-person and remote CAD instruction, aligning with course learning outcomes and a structured syllabus.

The role requires CAD expertise, curriculum development, and the ability to assess student work while reporting grades to the registrar. Evening instruction may be required and a strong commitment to student success is essential.

Qualifications

Associate degree or higher with 30 CAD credit hours from an accredited institution.
Two years’ work experience in design/engineering using CAD tools.
Ability to teach remotely or in-person and communicate learning outcomes.
Clear instructional presentation skills and responsive to student needs.
Commitment to quality instruction and learner-centered community college mission.
Ability to offer diverse learning experiences for diverse student populations.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred: Bachelor’s in design or related field.

Responsibilities

Instruct CAD courses using AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or similar tools.
Develop syllabi with course expectations and learning objectives.
Create and assess course/program learning outcomes.
Address diverse learning styles and adapt delivery accordingly.
Develop supplementary materials and technology-enhanced resources.
Maintain attendance, grades, and required records.
Adhere to college, state, and accreditation standards and ethics.
Stay current with CAD and teaching developments through professional growth.
Communicate professionally with students, staff, and stakeholders.

Job Summary/Basic Function

This position reports to the Dean of Occupational and Workforce Programs. The instructor will have the opportunity to teach in-person or remote to facilitate student learning in CAD software to achieve course learning outcomes. Instructor will convey the syllabus requirements to the students, do assessment on student work and report student grades to the registrar.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates Degree or higher in Computer Aided Design, Applied Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or related degree with 30 credit hours in Computer Aided Design and Drafting specialty courses from an accredited institution.
Two years’ work experience in the field of design and/or engineering, directly involved with the application of CAD tools to create products, structures, machines, or tooling.
Ability to integrate computer applications into teaching, ability to communicate with students remotely and effectively achieve learning outcomes through remote or in-person instruction.
Capability to present information in an instructional setting and respond to questions from groups.
Positive teaching style and understanding the needs of students.
Commitment to quality instruction in a learner-centered Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy.
Ability to provide diverse learning experiences to diverse student populations.
Demonstrated skill in effective written and oral communications.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in design, or a related field.
Professional experience with software packages including AutoCad, Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or other platforms utilized in technical design.
Certifications in CAD software packages. Teaching experience (including on job training of co-workers). Familiarity with ISO and ANSI orthographic projections.
Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances.
Additive Engineering Experience.
