Job summary

Job description

Position Description Summary

The Instructor of CAD Technology Industrial Drafting Technology is responsible for providing classroom instruction for Industrial Drafting and CAD related courses. The instructor is administratively responsible to the Associate Dean of the School of STEM. The instructor should have experience with parametric solid modeling and Class A Surfacing, must understand manufacturing processes, and have knowledge of the design process as related to industry.

Core Competencies And Qualifications
  • Earned Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally-accredited institution in Engineering, Industrial Technology, CAD‑CAE, Drafting, Occupational Studies/Education or related field required.
  • Journeyman status or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years full-time work experience in either Manufacturing, Design and Engineering may be considered.
  • Certification or demonstrated expertise in course related software/technology may be required.

The most successful candidate will have a career that reflects the following:

  • Experience in the utilization of either CATIA V5, NX, ICEM Surf, Alias or Solidworks.
  • Certifications and certificates: High School CAD and Industrial Drafting teaching experience, college teaching experience, related training instruction, and professional teaching certifications preferred.

  • Demonstrate mastery of course material, come to class prepared to teach the day’s lesson (including preparing all handouts, exams or other materials before the start if class), and present the material conscientiously.
  • Teach course(s) in accordance with the description in the Course Master and in accordance with the Department and/or standardized course policies. It is recognized that the methods, procedures, and interpretations of various instructors may differ.
  • Make himself or herself available for student consultations and provide guidance to students to promote student learning and success.
  • Meet all scheduled classes and final examinations as scheduled.
  • Grade and return written work to students in a timely manner. Maintain appropriate records of students attendance, intermediate, and final grades; submit required reports to the appropriate office by the scheduled deadlines.
  • Develop and distribute an effective course syllabus, following the guidelines of College policies and incorporating required elements of the course master; adhere to the written syllabus throughout the semester, within reasonable limits; participate in the College course evaluation process.
  • Be informed of the College support services for students and recommend their use, when advisable.
  • Make every reasonable effort to attend scheduled staff meetings.
  • Behave appropriately in dealing with students and staff so as to maintain a scholarly and professional atmosphere.
  • Notify the Dean as soon as possible if unable to meet scheduled class session; schedule personal vacations to coincide with the College.
  • Responsible for performing, analyzing and reporting assessment of student learning.
