Description

Responsible for teaching in discipline areas as assigned by the respective division chair. All instructors are expected to demonstrate a mastery of the subject matter and a commitment to teaching and learning with a focus upon student retention and success.

Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Observe supports and enforce the regulations, policies and programs of Lake Land College; adhere to the procedures outlined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
  2. Prepare instructional materials, including a course syllabus using the syllabus template provided; follow course outlines approved by the College; evaluate and assess student performance.
  3. Prepare and deliver instruction to students in modalities assigned by the division chair and approved by the Vice President for Academic Services.
  4. Submit required documentation including student midterm attendance rosters, final course grades and other information as requested or required by the division chair; maintain accurate scholastic student records.
  5. Be available to students and consider the general and special needs of each student; respond to student inquiries in a timely manner; counsel and assist students in accomplishing their course and program goals.
  6. Remain current with content technology and instructional methods and strategies in the discipline.
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of the community college philosophy including its unique ties to the workforce and the district.
  8. Collaborate with program coordinators or other faculty members to facilitate achievement of course goals and objectives.
  9. Maintain regular communication with division chair, especially with regard to absences or cancellation of class.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned by the division chair.

Education Requirements

  • Demonstrate ability to learn the Lake Land College information systems and processes; maintain all professional credentials required to teach in area of discipline.

Supplemental Information

BIOSCIENCE/Anatomy-Physiology INSTRUCTOR. Part‑time, Faculty position. Lake Land College. Qualified candidates will need to teach college‑level courses in areas of the Biological Sciences, such as General Biology, Cell Biology, Animal Behavior, Microbiology, Anatomy, and Physiology, or other interdisciplinary life sciences. Minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Life Sciences or related Life Science field with an emphasis in at least 18 graduate‑level credits in Biology courses. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience in human anatomy and physiology.
