College of Lake County is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Hazardous Materials – Biotechnology. The instructor will create syllabi, prepare lectures, teach all scheduled classes, and assess student work. Deliver content with inclusive methods and utilize the LMS and digital tools.

• Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field, or a Bachelor's with 5 years biotech experience in industry or academia.
• Previous college teaching experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach Hazardous Materials – Biotechnology course as scheduled.
• Develop, revise, and maintain instructional materials and syllabi aligned with outcomes.
• Observe and evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, discussions, and projects.
• Uphold academic integrity policies and resolve student concerns.
• Attend adjunct meetings and complete required compliance trainings (e.g., Title IX, Clery Act).
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and assessment.

The instructor will be responsible for creating and distributing a course syllabus, preparing lecture and lesson plans, teaching all scheduled classes, and responding to and evaluating student work. The course must be taught in accordance with the current program-approved course description.Job Description:Teach courses in discipline, as scheduled each academic semester, using a variety of student centered, culturally relevant instructional methods to support diverse learning styles and student needs.Meet all classes at assigned location and times. If unable to meet an assigned class reports absence to supervisor and academic division staff in an appropriate manner.Develop, revise, and maintain instructional materials, course content, and syllabi that align with departmental standards and student learning outcomes.Observe and evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, discussions, and projects. Provide timely and constructive feedback.Support student retention and success by identifying at-risk students, providing instructional support, and referring students to appropriate college services.Be available for student consultation through phone or email.Use approved College standardized system(s) to provide students and the division with a syllabus that includes course objectives, learning outcomes, attendance policies, required materials, timelines, and evaluation criteria.Deliver course content using inclusive teaching strategies and incorporate instructional technology, including the Learning Management System (LMS) and other digital tools.Encourage and review student course evaluations to improve teaching effectiveness and course delivery.Maintain accurate and timely records for grading, attendance, and other required documentation. Submit grades and related records by established deadlines. Produces appropriate grade and course records for supervisor upon request.Uphold academic integrity policies and address violations in accordance with college guidelines. Uses the appropriate college policies and procedures to resolve and document student concerns.Participate in college governance, division and departmental meetings, and, when appropriate, program advisory boards and committees.Attend required Adjunct meetings in the Fall and Spring semesters and complete all required compliance trainings (e.g., Title IX, Clery Act).Engage in professional development to stay current in instructional methods, academic discipline, and institutional policies.Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, assessment, and instructional improvement.Maintain a high level of professional ethics and conduct all classes in accordance with college policies and approved instructional materials.Maintain a safe and organized classroom/laboratory environment by adhering to safety protocols, properly storing equipment and materials, and resetting lab/classroom for next class session (if applicable).Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean.T his posting w ill be used to obtain a pool of qualified candidates.
