Job summary

Minneapolis College of Art and Design is seeking part‑time, temporary instructors for Continuing Education courses offered both in person and online. The program covers animation, design, illustration, photography, textiles, and more, with flexible scheduling from 1 day to 10 weeks.

Instructors teach 1–2 classes per year, depending on need, with ongoing applications and interviews if backgrounds align with current hiring needs.

Qualifications

Post-secondary degree in selected area of teaching is required.
Three years of experience teaching and/or curriculum development is required.
Experience with diverse student backgrounds is required.
Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
Experience with Google Suite or other cloud-based office suites is required.
Experience with Canvas LMS is preferred.
Advanced degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

Create course descriptions by established deadlines, including content, prerequisites, materials, projects, and teaching methods.
Develop the course syllabus with learning outcomes, calendar, and materials.
Proactively communicate with students about schedules and content.
Provide supervision to Teaching Assistants if assigned.
Incorporate student feedback into course structure.
Collaborate with MCAD staff as needed.
Submit grades and course reports by deadlines.
