Job summary

The Department of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Design at the University of Minnesota invites applications for term-limited, part-time adjunct faculty teaching positions. This continuous pool supports openings throughout the academic year and summer, welcoming active practitioners to share contemporary professional knowledge and design leadership with students.

Courses span design studios, design communication, history and theory, technical and systems, and miscellaneous

Qualifications

• An accredited professional degree or equivalent in architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, or a related field.
• One to three years of demonstrated professional and/or teaching expertise.
• Maintenance of an active external design practice or leadership position within the community.
• Expertise in one or more of the course topic areas listed above.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and in the community.
• Commitment to creating a welcoming, professional, and inclusive classroom environment for a diverse student body.
• Preferred: Master's degree or PhD in a relevant design field.
• Five or more years of professional or teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach 3 credit lecture courses, including development of content, syllabi and other instructional materials.
• Create a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff and other constituents from diverse backgrounds.
• Integrate diversity in curriculum development, teaching, and program design.
• Hold weekly office hours.
• Consult regularly with the faculty program director.
• Participate in a range of academic activities such as curricular meetings, end-of-semester reviews, guest lectures, etc.
