Job summary

Henkel's Adhesive Technologies unit in Bridgewater, NJ is seeking a Product Development Scientist to advance construction adhesives and sealants. You will design experiments, optimize formulations, and work with manufacturing and commercial teams to scale new products and validate performance.

Candidates typically hold a PhD or master's in chemistry or polymer science with 3–5 years of relevant lab experience.

Qualifications

• PhD or master's in chemistry, polymer science, materials science, chemical engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of lab experience in adhesives, sealants, coatings, or polymer systems.
• Strong knowledge of polymer science, structure–property relationships and adhesive formulation.
• Experience with organic synthesis and formulation of polyurethanes, silanes and acrylics is a plus.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• Self-driven with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize innovative adhesives aligned with market needs.
• Design and execute lab experiments for synthesis, formulation, and testing.
• Evaluate processing and bonding via testing and simulations.
• Lead lab workstreams with high-quality data and clear documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain to scale up products.
• Plan and execute customer trials with application engineering and sales teams.
• Provide technical support to external customers.
• Drive projects by identifying risks and defining next steps.
• Ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Stay current with industry trends and IP; assist patent work.
• Support lab digitalization and automation.
